Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they say. So corny, isn't it? However, nutritionists and doctors haven't stopped recommending oatmeal in the morning for breakfast. Since we just launched the Amazin' Goodness Bowl, an oat-based supermeal that's packed with fruits, nuts and all that delicious goodness... We wanted to test the theory if eating oats everyday is actually good for you! Here's what WeiWen from the Amazin' Graze team had to say from that one week experience:

 

I don't usually take breakfast and my first meal of the day is lunch at around 1pm (subconsciously participating in intermittent fasting!), so this will be quite a challenge for me! I know it's not ideal to skip breakfast and most nutritionists would suggest otherwise, but since I was a kid, I just wasn't hungry enough in the mornings to eat. After some research, I found out that what you eat for breakfast can be an important factor in what we choose to eat for the rest of the day, and it would even help lessening your hunger pangs and cravings! According to Wikipedia... A balanced breakfast consists of protein, fiber, and healthy fats in an equal amount. So I'm thankful that the Goodness Bowl has all of that, packed in one meal. With that, I have my sachets ready to go for the week!

 

Day 1:

Today is actually the first day of working from home due to the RMO, so it was a refreshing change to have breakfast at home. Made my morning coffee, took my supplements (thanks @Popstoresg!)  and had a wholesome & warm meal waiting for me! It only took 90 seconds, and even though we've worked on this for a long time, it still surprises me how fast and easy it actually takes to prepare the Goodness Bowl. Pink Berry today, love the sweetness from the cranberries & raisins!

 

Day 2:

Apple Cinnamon spoke to me the most, it's so refreshing and it even has real apple bits inside! Cinnamon is a really good way to boost up on your antioxidants too, so that's definitely a bonus! Wholesome, protein packed meal for my post-workout meal...

 

Day 3:

I have to say, I was extremely excited to have a healthier alternative to a classic flavour, Chocolate Banana! I used to always have Chocolate Banana cake from Secret Recipe on my birthdays, so this flavour always hits it home for me. With the freeze-dried bananas packed in this... it's definitely a sweet treat! Definitely one of the best vegan-friendly & dairy free way to keep your cravings satisfied!

 

Day 4:

After trying all the flavours... I must say, Pink Berry might be my personal favourite! With the beetroot powder, it gives it such a pretty colouring. And it really tastes just as good as it looks, and no, I'm not just saying that. Oatmeals are suppose to be bland and mushy, but with the almonds and berries inside - it gives the perfect ratio of crunchy, sweet & wholesome warm oats! PS. I tried making this with hot milk today and OMG - so much better than using water!!

 

Day 5:

At this rate, I'd be lying to you if I told you I'm not slightly bored with just eating oats everyday. So I decided to spice things up a little with adding my own toppings! Today I tried the Apple Cinnamon Goodness Bowl, and added some Blueberry Goji Coconut Granola & fresh apples! It definitely makes it a sweeter meal but just by adding these 2 simple ingredients it already elevates the taste!

 

Day 6:

Incase you didn't know, you can make overnight oats with our Goodness Bowl as well! Just need to add cold milk, *and any other toppings you want, and refrigerate it for at least 4-6 hours (or overnight...) and it's done! I wanted to do make things a little fancy on the last day of the week, so I made mine with fresh milk, Chocolate Hazelnut Nut Butter, Salted Gula Melaka Granola and some fresh blueberries to top! The chocolate nut butter really made it all come together, tastes just like Christmas!! If you need a cold, refreshing wake up call in the mornings, this is definitely the breakfast for you.

 

Final thoughts:

Oatmeal really is an extremely comforting meal to have for breakfast, since the Goodness Bowl isn't just plain oatmeal. The different flavours really keeps things interesting, and to spice things up a little you definitely can add your own toppings to make it fun and different everyday! It's really quite an easy and a no-brainer meal to prepare, hot or cold! Oats in general are an incredibly nutritious food packed with important vitamins, minerals and antioxidants - ours are an extra boost since it's packed with fruits and nuts! Definitely a healthy, wholesome and nutritional start to the day.
